The Virginia House of Delegates bid farewell to three of its respected members three days before adjourning in February. Seventy-one-year-old James H. Dillard, a former teacher who has served 32 years in the House, announced he will not seek re-election. A Republican and outspoken advocate of public schools, Dillard is the third longest serving member of the House. "People say to me, 'Dillard, are you a liberal?' Sometimes they ask, "You a moderate?' and others say, 'Are you a conservative?' I say I'm not really any of those. I'm a Virginian."
