No book can be written in a vacuum—this is particularly true with a book on rights of

publicity, which focuses on multiple audiences, and involves laws developed along a

lengthy time continuum. Therefore, this book is dedicated to the entire team at CON-

SOR-. I thank each and every one of them for their help and understanding during the

long gestation period in the creation of this work.

This book, more than any other, has involved and affected the entire staff of our

firm and its advisors. In many ways, over the last 18 months, everyone has given their

time and their energy, at least tangentially.

More importantly, every person on the team supported the time-consuming effort

that went into the writing and research of this book. And most importantly of all, every-

one recognized that this book is in many ways groundbreaking—nothing new of sub-

stance has been written on this topic for more than a decade.
