Provides exciting and interactive opportunities to see how the body works. Great for kids and their parents. Held Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. at the Imaginarium Science Discovery Center. Call 276-3179.
1 Messiah Sing Anchorage Concert Chorus
The chorus is again producing this important event, but is adding a new twist. The audience is invited to participate from the hall in singing this beloved choral work while the Anchorage Concert Chorus leads from the stage. Begins at 2 p.m. at the West High School Auditorium. Call 274-7464.
5 Starting a Business
Covers the essentials in small business start-up, including information access, legal aspects, business insurance, bookkeeping, marketing and finance options. Fee is $40. Held at the Small Business Development Center from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 274-7232.
6 Developing a Business Plan
Covers the basic steps involved in producing a business plan, including researching business ideas, analyzing the profitability of small business, introduction to the necessary financial statements and consideration of loan requirements. 6-15 Hans Christian Andersen's "The Snow Queen"
A tale of enchantment played by the Alaska Theatre of Youth. Held at the University of Alaska Anchorage Wendy Williamson Auditorium. Call 338-4901.
7-8 Swedish Christmas Tours
Guided tours through a traditionally decorated home, honoring the Swedish heritage of the Anderson family, who built the historic house in 1915. At the Oscar Anderson House, 420 M St., from noon to 4 p.m. Call 274-2336.
7 Holiday Train to Seward
Take a scenic winter train ride on the Alaska Railroad. While in Seward, participate in the many special activities planned for the day. It's always a favorite trip, and tickets sell out fast. 7 First Saturdays at the Zoo
Professional photographers will be on hand to offer tips for photographing zoo animals. Held on the first Saturday of each month from October to March. Participants will have a chance to submit photographs for a special exhibit, held April 1. No camera? Bring your sketchbook for drawing tips.
