Charles Dabney Carrington

Born in Richmond, Virginia, on August 27, 1925, Charles Dabney Carrington died in Jackson, New York, on July 13, 2005. He attended the Merchant Marine Academy from 1943 to 1945 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1953. In addition to his private practice in Arlington, Vermont, Mr. Carrington was integral in starting the Vermont Legal Aid Society during 1968 and 1971. He was a member of the Vermont Bar Association, the Phi Alpha Delta law fraternity, and the Bennington County Bar Association. He is survived by his wife, three daughters and a stepdaughter, a son, two brothers, a sister, and two grandsons.

Thomas James Donovan

Born in Boston on July 17, 1936, Thomas James Donovan, 69, of Burlington, died on August 11, 2005. He received his undergraduate degree from Boston College and subsequently graduated from the New England School of Law. He was in the general practice of law in Burlington for over thirty years and served many terms as a justice of the peace for the city of Burlington. He was a member of the Vermont Bar Association, the Chittenden County Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He is survived by his wife, six children, four granddaughters, a sister, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Harry Goldman

Born in Boston, Harry Goldman, 97, of Brattleboro, died on October 10, 2005. Goldman graduated from Tufts University, in both in undergraduate and medical school programs. He earned his law degree from Suffolk Law School when he was 64 years old. After years of practice as a radiologist, Mr. Goldman practiced law in Brattleboro, specializing in medical malpractice. A talented musician, Mr. Goldman played cello in the Boston Pops Orchestra under the baton of Arthur Fiedler. He is survived by a brother, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

James H. Gray, Jr.

Born on November 15, 1943, in Miami, Florida, James H. Gray, Jr., 61, died on August 2, 2005, in Woodstock. Following his primary education in Miami, he graduated from the University of Florida and the University of Miami Law School. He practiced law for over thirty-five years. He was a partner at the Alldredge and Gray Law Firm in Miami and in Vermont he became a partner in Shillen, Gray and Mackall Law Office. He was a member of the Vermont Bar Association and...
