Samina Najmi's short essay was the most moving thing I have ever read in your magazine ("Homeless after 9/11," October issue). It deeply resonated as I have spent much time in India studying their classical vocal music and have met many great friends and teachers, most of whom have been Muslims.

Najmi is the kind of American that could make this country great by inspiring tolerance and love that are now in steep decline.

Her essay tells us that we Americans should take some time to look more deeply and without prejudice into the cultures of Pakistan and Afghanistan and, yes, even Islam.
