Dear friends of CLF, it is with pleasure that I write my first conservation matters greeting to each of you.

Since becoming president of the Conservation Law Foundation in November, I have traveled to the five New England states where CLF has offices. In each, I have found enthusiastic and committed staff members actively supported by a vital community of board volunteers. This shared energy is so much of what gives CLF its focus and effectiveness in strengthening New England's towns and cities, protecting the region's working landscape, and preserving our natural areas.

As I'm sure you've noticed, the Winter 2004 issue of Conservation Matters has a new look.
