IN
MEMORIAM
David
L.
Kaserman
1947-2008
David
Kaserman
received
his
Ph.D.
in
Economics
from
the
University
of
Florida
in 1976.
In
spite
of
battling
kidney
failure
his
entire
adult
life,
he
was
a
prolific
economist.
His
first
published
paper
appeared
in The Antitrust Bulletin in 1976.
In
the
ensuing
30
years,
Dave
published
over
100 articles
and
several
books
including
Antitrust
Economics
and
Law and Economics
of
Vertical Integration and Control. At
the
time of
his
death,
he
was
in
the
middle
of
another
book
and
many
journal
articles.
He
contributed
significantly
to
our
understanding
of
antitrust
economics, vertical integration
and
control,
industry
regulation,
and
the
law, economics,
and
policy of
organ
transplantation.
Dave
was
a
wonderful
economist,
a
great
teacher,
and
the
best
of
colleagues.
The
profession
lost
an
important
member,
which
is a tragedy. But those
who
knew
Dave
lost far more: the
best friend
that
anyone
could
have. We will
miss
his
keen
sense of
humor,
his generosity,
and
his loyalty.
