The Colorado and Denver Bar Associations are pleased to welcome Daniel A. Sweetser as the new deputy executive director, chief operating officer, and chief financial officer for the associations. Alongtime Colorado practitioner, Dan was serving as DBA president-elect when the opportunity for a more permanent leadership position arose earlier this year.
The CBA/DBAs search for a new deputy director included several rounds of interviews and extensive input from stakeholders. Ultimately, Dan emerged from an impressive field of candidates as the best fit to oversee the operations, policies, and budgets of the associations. He officially began his duties on May 4.
Many of you may know Dan from his past involvement with the CBA and DBA. He has been a member of the CBA Board of Governors and the DBA Board of Trustees since 2007, acting as treasurer of the DBA Board of Trustees from 2012 to 2019. As DBA treasurer and president-elect, he served on the CBA/DBA Joint Management Committee beginning in 2012. He was appointed to the CBA Executive Committee in 2017. Dan was also a member of the CBA Real Estate Section Council from 2010 to 2017 and an officer of the Council from 2013 to 2016, serving as secretary, vice chair, and chair.
Dan has served other community organizations as well, including the Colorado Lawyers Committee and Heritage Camps for Adoptive Families, and he has performed pro bono work through out his career. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado and his law degree from the University of Denver, founding his solo practice in 2006.
