Latin Percussion and Rhythm Section Workshops for Sax, Piano, Bass, and Percussion in Morelia, Michoacán

Percussion Program 1: June 15-21, 2009. (Vizcaino, Carvajal, and Spiro). Percussion Program 2: June 22-28. 2009. (Vizcaino and Carvajal). Rhythm Section Workshop: Sax, Piano, Bass, and Percussion. June 29-July 5, 2009.

Our Latin Percussion Programs include daily classes on congas, timbal, and batá drums. Participants can also arrange for private lessons. CMP will supply good instruments and instructional materials. The Rhythm Section Workshop, for sax, piano, bass, and percussion, includes separate classes with Alberto Pantaleón and Roberto Vizcaino in the morning, and combined rhythm section rehearsals with both teachers in the afternoon. CMP will supply the instruments, amplifiers, and instructional materials for class, but feel free to bring your own charts too!

Roberto Vizcaino is a master conguero, timbalero and multiple percussionist, on faculty at the Conservatorio de las Rosas in Morelia.

Alejandro Carvajal is a renowned batalero and rumbero whose musical and family roots go back to the Yoruba of Africa. He is on faculty at the Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana.
