Trying to fend off competition on several fronts, CT Communications plans to spend about $2.5 million laying fiber-optic cable to about 10,000 Concord homes by the end of the year. The project will speed Internet communications and make it possible for CT to offer cable-television service, but the company has not set a date for when it would be available.
