Top executives from the major cruise ship lines operating in Alaska waters agreed to a goal of preserving clean water through regulation and monitoring of their marine wastewater discharges, said Gov. Tony Knowles.

"I was shocked when last summer's test results revealed sewage discharges, and even graywater discharges, that exceeded state and federal standards for fecal coliform," Knowles said.
