STATISTICAL HIGHLIGHTS
Crude oil and natural gas liquid production
Provisional estimates for OPEC crude oil production in
September 2019 totaled 28.3 mn bpd. For the 12 members
of OPEC, natural gas liquids (NGL) production for
September was 5.5 mn bpd, bringing total combined pro-
duction of crude oil and NGL to 33.8 mn bpd, down
4.3 mn bpd or 11.3% lower than the figure for September
2018.
Crude oil and NGL production in the OECD 30 coun-
tries totaled 26.7 mn bpd in September, up by 1.9 mn bpd
or 7.7% from the previous year.
Production in the countries of the Commonwealth of
Independent States (CIS) for September 2019 was
15.2 mn bpd, down 0.1 mn bpd or 0.1% compared with
September 2018, and for the rest of the world, production
was 16.4 mn bpd, up by 0.2 mn bpd or 0.1% higher than
the figure from the previous year.
Total world production of crude oil and NGL for
September 2019 totaled 92.2 mn bpd, a decrease of
2.5 mn bpd compared with the figure for September 2018.
1|NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION
US production of natural gas for July 2019 was 82.4 bcm,
up 9.2 bcm or 12.6% compared with July 2018.
In Canada, production in July totaled 15.7 bcm, down
0.4 bcm or 2.6% compared with July 2018. Production for
OECD Europe-23 was 17.7 bcm, a decrease of 1.8 bcm or
9.3% on the previous year.
Natural gas production in the CIS countries was
77.1 bcm, up 2.5 bcm or 3.3% compared with July 2018.
Overall, world total natural gas production in July
2019 was 355.0 bcm, an increase of 14.8 bcm or 4.4%
compared with the figure for July 2018.
2|COAL AND LIGNITE
PRODUCTION
World total combined production of coal and lignite in
July 2019 was 510.8 mn mt, down 2.5 mn mt, a decrease
of 0.5% on the previous year.
Production in the United States in July was
52.8 mn mt, a decrease of 4.9 mn mt or 8.5% compared
with the figure for July 2018.
The CIS countries produced 46.0 mn mt of coal and
lignite in July 2019, a decrease of 0.9 mn mt or 1.9% com-
pared with July 2018.
3|ELECTRICITY PRODUCTION
Net total world production of electricity in July 2019 was
51.1 bn kWh or 2.3% higher than in July 2018, at
2232.0 bn kWh.
In China, net electricity production increased by 38.9 bn
kWh, or 6.5% on the figure for July 2019, at 639.1 bn kWh.
US production for July 2019 was up 3.0 bn kWh, or 0.7%
compared with the figure for July 2018 at 413.1 bn kWh.
Net electricity production in OECD Europe-23
increased by 1.7 bn kWh, or 0.6% compared with July
2018, at 273.1 bn kWh.
4|PRODUCTS DEMAND
Demand for oil products in the United States for July
2019 was 20.4 mn bpd, an increase of less than
0.1 mn bpd compared with July 2018.
Across the OECD 30 countries, products demand was
43.9 mn bpd, down by 1.0 mn bpd or 2.1% compared with
July 2018.
Products demand in Japan for July 2019 was
3.9 mn bpd, a decrease of 0.2 mn bpd or 4.9% compared
with the previous year.
Total world demand for petroleum products in July
2019 was 97.2 mn bpd, an increase of 0.5 mn bpd or 0.5%
compared with the figure for July 2018.
