STATISTICAL HIGHLIGHTS

Crude oil and natural gas liquids production

Provisional estimates for OPEC crude oil production in

February 2018 totaled 30.7 mn bpd. For the 12 members

of OPEC, natural gas liquids (NGL) production for

February was 6.0 mn bpd, bringing total combined produc-

tion of crude oil and NGL to 36.8 mn bpd, down

1.9 mn bpd or 4.8% lower than the figure for February

2017.

Crude oil and NGL production in the OECD 30 countries

totaled 26.6 mn bpd in February, up by 2.1 mn bpd or 8.5%

from the previous year.

Production in the countries of the Commonwealth of

Independent States (CIS) for February 2018 was

15.5 mn bpd, up 0.4 mn bpd or 2.7% compared with

February 2017, and for the rest of the world, production was

16.5 mn bpd, up by than 0.2 mn bpd or 1.1% higher than the

figure from the previous year.

Total world production of crude oil and NGL for

February 2018 totaled 95.5 mn bpd, an increase of

0.8 mn bpd or 0.9% compare d with the figure for February

2017.

1|NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION

US production of natural gas for December 2018 was 77.9 bcm,

up 8.1 bcm or 11.7% compared with December 2017.

In Canada production in December totaled 15.5 bcm, a

decrease of 1.1 bcm or 6.8% compared with December

2017. Production for OECD Europe-23 was 23.1 bcm, a

decrease of 1.5 bcm or 6.2% on the previous year.

Natural gas production in the CIS countries was 87.3 bcm,

up 2.8 bcm or 3.3% compared with December2017.

Over all, world total natural gas production in December

2018 was 366.2 bcm, an increase of 30.4 bcm or 9.1% com-

pared with the figure for December 2017.

2|COAL AND LIGNITE

PRODUCTION

World total combined production of coal and lignite in

December 2018 was 545.5 mn mt, down 55.1 mn mt, a

decrease of 9.2% on the previous year.

Production in the United States in December was

57.2 mn mt, an increase of 0.4 mn mt or 0.8% compared

with the figure for December 2017.

The CIS countries produced 55.7 mn mt of coal and lig-

nite in December 2018, an increase of 2.9 mn mt or 5.6%

compared with December 2017.

3|ELECTRICITY PRODUCTION

Net total world production of electricity in December 2018

was 67.4 bn kWh or 3.3% higher than in December 2017, at

2134.6 bn kWh.

In China, net electricity production increased by

33.2 bn kWh, or 6.6% on the figure for December 2017, at

533.6 bn kWh. US production for December 2018 was up

16.1 bn kWh, or 4.6% compared with the figure for

December 2017 at 362.0 bn kWh.

Net electricity production in OECD Europe-23 decreased

by 1.8 bn kWh, or 0.6% compared with December 2017, at

314.6 bn kWh.

4|PRODUCTS DEMAND

Demand for oil products in the United States for December

2018 was 20.5 mn bpd, an increase of 0.6 mn bpd or 2.9%

compared with December 2017.

Across the OECD 30 countries, products demand was

45.0 mn bpd, down by 0.1 mn bpd or 0.2% compared with

December 2017.

Products demand in Japan for December 2018 was

3.5 mn bpd, a decrease of 0.1 mn bpd or 3.0% compared

with the previous year.

Total world demand for petroleum products in December

2018 was 97.1 mn bpd, an increase of 1.0 mn bpd or 1.0%

compared with the figure for December 2017.
