STATISTICAL HIGHLIGHTS

Crude oil and natural gas liquid production

Provisional estimates for OPEC crude oil production in

August 2019 totaled 29.8 mn bpd. For the 12 members of

OPEC, natural gas liquids (NGL) production for August was

5.6 mn bpd, bringing total combined production of crude oi l

and NGL to 35.4 mn bpd, down 2.6 mn bpd or 6.8% lower

than the figure for August 2018.

Crude oil and NGL production in the OECD 30 countries

totaled 26.7 mn bpd in August, up by 2.5 mn bpd or 10.4%

from the previous year.

Production in the countries of the Commonwealth of

Independent States (CIS) for August 2019 was 15.3 mn bpd,

up 0.3 mn bpd or 2.1% compared with August 2018, and for

the rest of the world, production was 16.7 mn bpd, up

by 0.4 mn bpd or 2.2% higher than the figure from the

previous year.

Total world production of crude oil and NGL for August

2019 totaled 94.0 mn bpd, a decrease of 0.4 mn bpd com-

pared with the figure for August 2018.

1|NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION

US production of natural gas for June 2019 was 78.2 bcm,

up 8.7 bcm, or 12.5% compared with June 2018.

In Canada, production in June totaled 15.0 bcm, down

0.3 bcm or 2% compared with June 2018. Production for

OECD Europe-23 was 18.0 bcm, a decrease of 0.5 bcm or

2.9% on the previous year.

Natural gas production in the CIS countries was

76.5 bcm, up 2.6 bcm or 3.6% compared with June 2018.

Overall, world total natural gas production in June 2019

was 345.9 bcm, an increase of 15.2 bcm or 4.6% compared

with the figure for June 2018.

2|COAL AND LIGNITE

PRODUCTION

World total combined production of coal and lignite in June

2019 was 513.9 mn mt, down 2.1 mn mt, a decrease of 0.4%

on the previous year.

Production in the United States in June was 50.0 mn mt,

a decrease of 6.9 mn mt or 12.1% compared with the figure

for June 2018.

The CIS countries produced 44.5 mn mt of coal and lig-

nite in June 2019, an increase of 2.2 mn mt or 5.1% com-

pared with June 2018.

3|ELECTRICITY PRODUCTION

Net total world production of electricity in June 2019

was 53.9 bn kWh or 2.7% higher than in June 2018, at

2,064.8 bn kWh.

In China, net electricity production increased by 33.8 bn kWh,

or 6.5% on the figure for June 2019, at 555.0 bn kWh. US pro-

duction for June 2019 was up 5.9 bn kWh, or 1.6% compared

with the figure for June 2018 at 377.1 bn kWh.

Net electricity production in OECD Europe-23 decreased

by 1.7 bn kWh, or 0.7% compared with June 2018, at

256.1 bn kWh.

4|PRODUCTS DEMAND

Demand for oil products in the United States for June 2019

was 19.0 mn bpd, an increase of less th an 0.1 mn bpd com-

pared with June 2018.

Across the OECD 30 countries, products demand was

44.9 mn bpd, up by 1.0 mn bpd or 2.2% compared with June

2018.

Products demand in Japan for June 2019 was 4.3 mn bpd,

a decrease of 0.2 mn bpd or 5.3% compared with the

previous year.

Total world demand for petroleum products in June 2019

was 95.6 mn bpd, a decrease of 2.1 mn bpd or 2.1% com-

pared with the figure for June 2018.
