STATISTICAL HIGHLIGHTS
Crude oil and natural gas liquid production
Provisional estimates for OPEC crude oil production in
November 2019 totaled 31.1 mn bpd. For the 12 members
of OPEC, natural gas liquids (NGL) production for
November was 5.0 mn bpd, bringing total combined pro-
duction of crude oil and NGL to 36.1 mn bpd, down
2.1 mn bpd or 5.5% lower than the figure for November
2018.
Crude oil and NGL production in the OECD 30 coun-
tries totaled 27.3 mn bpd in November, up by 1.1 mn bpd
or 4% from the previous year.
Production in the countries of the Commonwealth of
Independent States (CIS) for November 2019 was
15.7 mn bpd, up 0.2 mn bpd or 1.2% compared with
November 2018, and for the rest of the world, production
was 16.8 mn bpd, up by 0.3 mn bpd or 1.8% higher than
the figure from the previous year.
Total world production of crude oil and NGL for
November 2019 totaled 95.9 mn bpd, a decrease of
0.1 mn bpd compared with the figure for November 2018.
1|NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION
US production of natural gas for September 2019 was
82.1 bcm, up 8.8 bcm or 11.9% compared with September
2018.
In Canada production in September totaled 15.0 bcm,
down 0.4 bcm or 2.4% compared with September 2018.
Production for OECD Europe-23 was 16.1 bcm, a
decrease of 0.9 bcm or 5.3% on the previous year.
Natural gas production in the CIS countries was
80.1 bcm, up 2.9 bcm or 3% compared with September 2018.
Overall, world total natural gas production in
September 2019 was 354.0 bcm, an increase of 16.7 bcm
or 5% compared with the figure for September 2018.
2|COAL AND LIGNITE
PRODUCTION
World total combined production of coal and lignite in
September 2019 was 519.9 mn mt, up 1.3 mn mt, an
increase of 1.3% on the previous year.
Production in the United States in September was
52.5 mn mt, a decrease of 4.3 mn mt or 7.6% compared
with the figure for September 2018.
The CIS countries produced 51.4 mn mt of coal and
lignite in September 2019, an increase of 1.2 mn mt or
2.3% compared with September 2018.
3|ELECTRICITY PRODUCTION
Net total world production of electricity in September
2019 was 48.6 bn kWh or 2.4% higher than in September
2018, at 2047.0 bn kWh.
In China, net electricity production increased by
33.6 bn kWh, or 6.5% on the figure for September 2019,
at 548.0 bn kWh. US production for September 2019 was
down 1.4 bn kWh, or 0.4% compared with the figure for
September 2018 at 355.3 bn kWh.
Net electricity production in OECD Europe-23
remained level with September 2018, at 260.7 bn kWh.
4|PRODUCTS DEMAND
Demand for oil products in the United States for
September 2019 was 20.7 mn bpd, an increase of
0.3 mn bpd or 1.3% compared with September 2018.
Across the OECD 30 countries, products demand was
43.8 mn bpd, down by 0.4 mn bpd or 0.8% compared with
September 2018.
Products demand in Japan for September 2019 was
3.3 mn bpd, a decrease of 0.1 mn bpd or 3.9% compared
with the previous year.
Total world demand for petroleum products in
September 2019 was 97.2 mn bpd, an increase of 1.2 mn bpd
or 1.2% compared with the figure for September 2018.
