Anchorage-based Crowley Alaska has been providing unique solutions to Alaska's logistics, marine transportation and environmental protection challenges for 50 years.

ENERGY SUPPORT

Crowley Alaska pioneered commercial tug and barge operations in the Arctic, opening the way for North Slope oilfield development. Through summer sealifts, 334 barges carrying nearly 1.3 million tons of cargo have been transported to the North Slope, including modules the size of ten story buildings and weighing nearly 6,000 tons. During the winter Crowley supports oilfield development with CATCO all-terrain vehicles. These heavy-lift overland transport units have large bag tires designed to work on the tundra without damaging the delicate Arctic ecosystem. Employees use these vehicles along with drills and pumps to make ice roads and ice islands for oil exploration. Environmental protection is provided through Crowley's role as marine contractor for Alaska Clean Seas--an oil industry spill response cooperative funded by North Slope producers and the Alyeska Pipeline Service Company.
