Crowley has been delivering quality petroleum products to residents and businesses in Alaska since 1953, from company/owner tank farms in Bethel, Captain's Bay, Kotzebue and Nome. In September of this year, the company acquired the Alaska-based fuel distribution business of Northland Fuel LLC, increasing its ability to serve more and more communities.

This purchase consisted of the assets of Yukon Fuel Company, Northland Vessel Leasing, Yutana Barge Lines and Service Oil & Gas. These businesses complement Crowley's existing businesses in Alaska and will result in greater efficiencies. The net result will be improved service for all the markets and customers that the combined companies serve.

Among the communities served, there are more than 150 Alaska villages where shallow-draft barges deliver products to river and coastal villages, and a variety of commercial enterprises, including aviation and the fishing industries. During the herring and salmon seasons, the company positions fuel barges in Bristol Bay to support fishing tender and processing requirements.

ENERGY SUPPORT

Crowley pioneered commercial tug and barge operations in the Arctic, opening the way for the North Slope oilfield development. Through summer sealifts, 334 barges carrying nearly 1.3 million tons of cargo were transported to the North Slope, including modules the size of ten-story buildings and weighing nearly 6,000 tons.
