VII. Criminal negligence

In 2011, Md. Code Ann., Crim. Law § 2-210 established the crime of "criminally negligent manslaughter by vehicle or vessel," which is a misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of three years, a $5,000 fine, or both. Id. § 2-210(e)-(f). The statute prohibits causing death by driving in a criminally negligent manner. Id. § 2-210(b).
