Secure Rural Schools Program (DOI)
Scope: The Interior Department’s Bureau of Land
Management seeks applications for the Secure Rural
Schools Program announcement
Deadline: April 23, 2021.
Funds: $3.1 million for awards ranging from $20,000 to
$100,000.
Eligibility: Colleges and universities; for-prot
organizations, including small businesses; nonprot
organizations; state, local, special district, and Native
American tribal governments; and independent school
districts, among others.
Areas: DOI said activities may include but are not
limited to road and trail maintenance, forest health
improvement, watershed restoration and maintenance,
soil productivity, improvement and control of noxious
weeds, sh habitat restoration, wildlife habitat
restoration, reestablishing native species, conservation
education, and fuels management/prevention.

Coral Reef and Natural Resources Program
(DOI)
Scope: The Interior Department’s Office of Insular
Affairs seeks applications for the FY21 Coral Reef and
Natural Resources Program announcement to improve
the health of coral reef ecosystems and other natural
resources in the U.S. insular areas for their long-term
economic and social benet.
Deadline: April 1, 2021.
Funds: $2.5 million total for up to 20 awards of up to
$300,000. The maximum project period is three years.
Eligibility: Nonprot organizations and local
governmental agencies. The U.S. insular areas include
the U.S. territories of the Virgin Islands, Guam, the
Commonwealth of the Mariana Islands, and American
Samoa, as well as the independent Freely Associated
States of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the
Federated States of Micronesia, and the Republic of
Palau.
Areas: DOI said priority will be given to projects that
help the insular areas address a variety of threats to
coral reef ecosystems and to eradicating aquatic and
terrestrial plant-, insect-, and animal-invasive species.

Maintenance Assistance Program (DOI)
Scope: The Interior Department’s Office of Insular
Affairs seeks applications for the FY21 Maintenance
Assistance Program (MAP) announcement to support,
develop, improve, and institutionalize infrastructure
maintenance practices in the seven insular areas.
Deadline: April 1, 2021.
Funds: $4.37 million for up to 15 awards. A 50:50 match
is required.
Eligibility: Colleges and universities; nonprot
organizations; and local government agencies, including
local hospitals/health centers and utilities. The areas
include Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands,
the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands,
the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the
Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau.
Areas: DOI said the following types of assistance are
generally provided under MAP: temporary expertise
(management and technical), specialized vehicles,
equipment and tools, maintenance-related training,
maintenance-related programs/systems, maintenance-
related analysis/studies, and minor renovations and
critical repairs to infrastructure.

Outreach Assessment (DOI)
Scope: The Interior Department’s U.S. Fish and
Wildlife Service seeks applications for the Outreach
Assessment announcement to increase the reach of
national prevention campaigns and create clear calls-
to-action that empower people to prevent the spread
of invasive species by promoting the Stop Aquatic
Hitchhikers! campaign, Clean Drain Dry Initiative™, and
PlayCleanGo® campaign.
Deadline: March 10, 2021.
Funds: $60,000 for one award.
Eligibility: Unrestricted.
Areas: DOI said activities may include but are not
limited to: determining the effectiveness of the Stop
