CLF hailed the May 6 release of the long awaited Massachusetts Climate Protection Plan. The state promised to release such a plan nearly a year ago, prodded by CLF's report, Heritage in Peril, which detailed the devastating impact that global warming will have on New England's plant and animal life and its coastal environment. The plan is intended to reduce emissions of the greenhouse gases that cause global warming from Massachusetts sources, most notably the burning of fossil fuels for electricity generation and transportation. The plan also forwards the greenhouse gas reduction goals of the New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers. (See Philip Warburg's letter, page 2.)
