Providence Alaska Medical Center recently awarded contracts to Davis Constructors and RIM Architects for a $48.85 million expansion project that includes construction of a new medical office building, a parking garage and a sky bridge to connect the new structures to the existing hospital.

With the increased need and demand for physician services in Alaska, especially for specialists, Providence Alaska Medical Center has run out of space for leasing physician office space on its current campus, so planning for a new medical office building began about two years ago. The awarding of the contract sets in motion the actual construction of the project, which should be completed in the spring of 2006.
