ConocoPhillips Alaska Inc. donated $25,000 to support the new Star of the Northwest career and technical education school being built in Kotzebue. Star of the Northwest is a career and technical educational effort between the Northwest Arctic Borough School District, the Alaska Technical Center and the University of Alaska Fairbanks Chukchi Rural Campus. Construction is due to be complete in early 2014.

"Our long-term magnet school project is designed to position Kotzebue as a statewide education and training hub that provides high school and post-secondary students the career and technical education options needed by our Alaska business and industry partners" said Annmarie O'Brien, Northwest Arctic Borough School District assistant superintendent.
