Conference to share financial literacy tips with college students.

Local nonprofit Know Money, an organization that helps millennials achieve financial literacy, is holding a one-day conference for college students across the state on Wednesday.

Bankroll Summit, created by personal finance educator Steven M. Hughes, will tackle topics including managing and eliminating debt (especially student loans), entrepreneurship and networking. The summit, a ticketed event to be held from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Central Energy in the BullStreet District, will also award an inaugural Bankroll Scholarship to one attendee.

"Everyone told me what I should do with my money when I was growing up, but no one ever showed me," Hughes said in a news release. "So when I got to college, I made every financial mistake possible: seven maxed out credit cards, chronic bank overdrafts, repossessions, and a credit score under 400."
