At the American Correctional Association's 144th Congress of Correction, thousands of corrections professionals attended workshops, explored the exhibit hall and networked with colleagues and friends at the Salt Place Convention Center. Attendees had the opportunity to attend more than 90 workshops on topics such as sustainability in correctional facilities, integrating security and mental health treatment, youth mentoring programs, health care, hepatitis C virus awareness, restrictive housing, mobile and video communications technology, and suicide prevention.

The Health Care Welcome Reception, which was sponsored by Correct Rx Pharmacy Services Inc., opened the conference on Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, allowing attendees to catch up with friends and colleagues and network before the workshops and meetings began. On Saturday, Keynote Speaker Kaitlin Sine Riordan spoke to attendees of the Health Care Special Session and Luncheon. Riordan discussed her struggle as a transgen-dered woman, and her path toward sobriety in order to live a life of serenity to be at peace with herself.

In the afternoon of Sunday, Aug. 17, the exhibit hall was bustling with excitement for the Open House, where booth vendors and company executives unveiled new products to the corrections world. Attendees perused the hall while enjoying light refreshments and getting their first look at the grand prize, a brand new, red 2014 Fiat 500 Pop Hatchback.
