On July 8, federal regulators refused to approve an $85 million ratepayer-funded bailout of Salem Harbor Station. The plant owners hoped ratepayers would fund the installation of air pollution control equipment. CLF argued that such a bailout would set a costly precedent for other old, dirty coal-and oil-fired power plants across the nation. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission agreed.
