Norwegian Cruise Line says it has placed an order for a 4,200-passenger ship, which will be about 10% larger than its upcoming ships the Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway. The project, "Breakaway Plus," will cost more than $900 million and will incorporate designs to be found on the Breakaway and Getaway, the cruise line says. 10/18/2012

Norwegian Cruise LineOs Norwegian Breakaway, under construction at Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany, celebrated a milestone Oct. 17 when its bow was lowered into place. The bow, known as block 73, weighed 361 tons, measured 72 feet long, 101 feet wide and over 39 feet high. The process was completed in 30 minutes. This step represents the completion of the lower part of the steel hull and indicates that only the superstructures, or topsides of the ship, remain to be finalized.
