Since 2009, Apex Logistics Group has pursued a niche in full truckload transportation logistics, while phasing out its lumping services. By 2011, the company was providing only transportation logistic brokering services, conducting no lumping services.

Apex makes money by brokering the transportation of full truckloads of materials from one point to another. Apex profit margins come from the difference between what Apex charges its customers and what it pays for the actual shipping of the freight. From this gross margin, its primary costs are salaries.

Apex Logistics Group has grown steadily since refocusing its business model from lumping to transportation services. During 2011, Apex Logistics Group had approximately $14 million in revenue. Since meeting with the Business Accelerator Project, the company has set its sights to grow revenues to $28 million during 2012.
