308 Systems, in Hermosa Beach, Calif is offering first responders a light weight, battery-powered, wireless communication system that fits into a small briefcase, said the company president, Mark Lueker.

The system--called TAC1PAK--operates as an independent incident-management system that is interoperable with other means of communication, Lueker said.

It provides connectivity with emergency vehicles, headquarters or the outside world, he said.
