GRADUATION CEREMONY

Lance Armstrong, a former professional road racing cyclist, is best known for founding the LiveStrong Cancer Support Foundation and winning the Tour de France a record seven consecutive times after having survived testicular cancer. Armstrong was named the Best Male Athlete in 2003,2004, 2005 and 2006 by ESPN. He retired from the cycling world in February, 2011. While Armstrong's success in the world of cycling is impressive, it was the courage he summoned in his personal battle against cancer and the conviction to help others that have led to a life of significance. He has spent much of his time outside of the cycling world heading up his foundation, the LiveStrong Cancer Support Foundation, which supports people affected by cancer. The foundation, which began in 1997, has become one of the top 10 groups funding cancer research in the United States, raising more than $400 million from multiple fundraising efforts, which include the sale of the iconic yellow LiveStrong bracelets. Through Armstrong, LiveStrong has become a global movement, and he continues to inspire people to feel empowered and to take control of their lives and their health.
