Colorado Transportation Factoids.

* Denver International Airport is sixth busiest nationally and can land 99 aircraft per hour on its five 12,000-foot runways.

* Colorado airports get an annual[ 8.5 million visitors, who spend $5.2 billion. Nearly 7.5 million use scheduled or commercial air service, and 1 million use general aviation.

* Colorado has more than 9,000 miles -- or 22,522 lane miles -- of highways, including 953 miles of interstates, and more than 85,000 miles of roads. It has 8,300 bridges.

* More than 1,500 buses operate throughout Colorado, with the Regional Transportation District the largest provider. RTD runs in 41 towns in six counties, or 2,406 square miles in the Denver metro area.

* RTD-completed projects in recent years include a reversible High-Occupancy Vehicles Lane on I-25; 5.3 miles of light rail from I-25 through downtown, with either investment studies done or funding approved for more; and an express bus service to DIA.
