Cockpit Displays Get a Facelift.

Air Force F-15E fighter aircraft are being equipped with new flat panel color displays (FPCD), made by Kaiser Electronics, a Rockwell Collins company.

Currently, the aircraft have cathode ray tube displays. The FPCD is an active matrix liquid crystal screen, five inches wide. It can be retrofit into other versions of the F-15 inventory, both U.S. and international.

The displays feature full-color graphics video with high brightness and contrast--for sunlight readability--and can be used with night-vision goggles.
