Global adoption of cloud computing increased slightly over the past year from 55% to 59%, according to Trend Micro s annual survey of 1,400 IT decision makers from the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, India, Canada, Japan, and Brazil. India and Canada reported the greatest increases: India grew from 38% in 2011 to 49% in 2012 and Canada's adoption rate increased from 42% to 51% in that same period.

More than half (53%) of the respondents cited data security as a key reason for holding back on employing cloud solutions. This is not surprising given that 40% said current cloud services don't meet their IT security requirements.
