Legislation to implement changes to the California Practice Privilege Program is moving forward in the California Assembly. A unanimous Business & Professional Committee passed the bill in April and approved a measure which classifies it as "urgent legislation."

Passage of the bill is necessary to implement important changes to California's out-of-state CPA registration and notification program approved by the California Board of Accountancy (CBA) during a special session in February. While the practice privilege program will still be in place, temporary changes will allow out-of-state CPAs to:
