CLF HAS JOINED A LAWSUIT to support Scarborough's 1994 comprehensive town plan, which promotes smart growth by calling for the creation of a village district. Together with GrowSmart Maine and the Maine Real Estate & Development Association, CLF contends the town violated Maine's Growth Management Act by failing to adopt zoning laws that are consistent with the town's own comprehensive plan. The developers who initiated the lawsuit have proposed a mixed-use, residential and commercial development in Dunstan Corner that is consistent with the town's plan, but is not allowed by the town's zoning law.
