Clean it up.

The Fine Print column in your June issue is one of the shallowest, most poorly researched articles I have ever read about energy in a serious publication. It's hard to know where to start in pointing out errors, but here are a few:

* Calling climate change "the cause du jour." On the contrary, the number of Americans who believe in human-caused climate change has fallen from 50% to 34% in the last four years. Yet every major scientific organization in the world and 97% of all American climate scientists say global warming/climate change caused by the burning of fossil fuels is a real and serious concern.

* Stating that Duke Energy can only supply energy at the "lowest possible price" (the actual terms are "economic" and "affordable") and not discussing what "affordable" actually means. How affordable is it to the citizens of North Carolina to have 13,500 children born every year who have enough mercury in their system to cause I.Q. deficits and learning disabilities? How affordable will it be for future generations to have to relocate part of Wilmington and other coastal cities due to rising oceans? A 2011 study shows that the hidden environmental and health...
