CKE signs deal for Carl's Jr. in Alaska.

Carl's Jr., the popular California hamburger chain, is breaking ground in Alaska on the first of 10 restaurants to be built here over the next eight years. Anchorage residents Debra and Jerry Kinn, principals of J & D restaurants Inc., are opening CKE Restaurants' latest franchise.

"They plan to open 10 units, beginning later this year," said Craig Hopkins, vice president of franchise sales. "Alaska's first Carl's Jr. restaurant will be built in South Anchorage."
