TEI's 66th Annual Conference, scheduled for October 31-November 2 at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis, will continue the Institute's tradition of bringing together leading practitioners and policymakers to help participants navigate the technical, administrative, and policy challenges that confront them. TEI's Continuing Education Committee has assembled a rich and compelling array of educational sessions designed to appeal to a wide spectrum of attendees. The full conference program is available at www.tei.org.

Among the government officials that President David M. Penney will welcome to the TEI podium are Manal Corwin, Deputy Assistant Treasury Secretary (International Tax Policy); Heather Maloy, Commissioner of the IRS's Large Business & International Division; Dave Hartnett, Permanent Secretary for Tax of H.M. Revenue & Customs in the United Kingdom; Selvi Stanislaus, Executive Officer of the California Franchise Tax Board; and Terrance McAuley, Assistant Commissioner, Compliance Programs, Canada Revenue Agency. Conference participants will also hear from Professor Edward Kleinbard of the University of Southern California's School of Law; Mr. Kleinbard formerly served as Chief of Staff of the Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation.

"It is a testament to the Institute's importance worldwide that senior government officials and other influential commentators from around the world will be participating in our conference, he observed.

Among the technical programs will be a plenary session on "Schedule UTP Compliance: Lessons Learned, Best Practices, Lingering Issues." This session will be particularly timely, since affected taxpayers would have just completed the preparation and filing of their inaugural Schedules UTP and therefore their experiences --both positive and otherwise--will be top of mind.

Conference participants will also be able to choose among a number of concurrent sessions, including:
