From the beautiful Hawaiian island of Kaua'i comes Koloa Rum. Micro-distilled in small batches using local sugarcane and mountain rainwater, this authentic Hawaiian rum is the first to be manufactured legally on Kaua'i, where the state's premier sugar plantation was established in 1835. The tall cane continues to thrive in the rich volcanic soil, nurtured by the pure waters of Mt. Waialeale. Visitors to the Garden Island can watch rum being distilled in the demonstration copper pot still and also sample the beverage--which comes in gold, dark, and white--at the Tasting Room and Company Store located within the footprint of the historic Kilohana Plantation. While most gins are made from grain, G'Vine is crafted from grape spirits and the rare vine flower--a small white blossom that blooms for just three days a year in June. The flowers--known for their ability to be distilled perfectly--are macerated in a neutral grape spirit made from ugni-blanc grapes grown in France's Cognac region. Nine whole fruit botanicals are added, including juniper berries, green cardamom, coriander, and lime. The result is round and smooth, with two varieties: G'Vine Floraison, which emphasizes vine flower notes on the forefront and makes a great red martini when mixed with sour mix, lime juice, and chamberd, and G'Vine Nouaison, which is rnoretypical of a London Dry. After crafting G'Vine, Euro Wine Gate determined that the distillate would make a superb liqueur on its own, so L'Esprit De June became the first vine flower liqueur--made using the ephemeral vine flowers from ugni-blanc, merlot, cabernet sauvignon, and other varietal grapes. Handpicked in June in the heart of the Cognac region of France, the vine flowers, which last only a few days, are mixed with a grape spirit base. Using meticulous French spirit-making techniques, the result is a uniquely gourmand liqueur with a well-balanced flavor profile, at once vegetal, floral, and fruity.
