Chris Jennings retiring from Spartanburg's visitor bureau.

Chris Jennings, executive vice president of theSpartanburg Convention and Visitors Bureau, is resigning from the position, effective Nov. 15, to move closer to his family in Maine. A search for Jennings' successor will begin in November, according to a news release.

Jennings joined theSpartanburg Area Chamber of Commercein November 2009. During his time there he implemented Spartanburg's first tourism action plan focused on culture, history, arts and recreation. Today, the Spartanburg Convention and Visitors Bureau serves as the destination marketing organization for Spartanburg city and county, with a focus on sports tourism and group travel, the release said.
