Chase expanding in Upstate.

Chase plans to expand its retail banking services across the country, including a Clemson branch at 1075 Tiger Blvd. as its first foray into what the company identifies as its Greenville market.

A company spokesman said the Clemson branch will open this summer and will be the first of several to open in the Upstate. The expansion is part of a surge Chase plans for nine markets around the country that will lead to 90 new branches and 700 new employees.

Chase has a commercial bank in Greenville at 40 W. Broad St.

The bank announced last year that it planned to open 400 new branches and hire as many as 3,000 employees in new markets over the next five years, according to a news release. Approximately 30% of branches will be in low-to-moderate income communities, the release said.
