JP MORGAN CHASE & CO. has joined the handful of U.S. banks that are offering a credit card embedded with "smart" chip technology, the Associated Press reports. The card is cobranded with British Airways and is designed to appeal to customers who travel overseas frequently.

Most credit cards in the United States contain magnetic-strips that are swiped at the register. Many countries in Europe and Asia have converted or are in the process of switching to the chip-based cards, which are more secure against fraud.
