CHARLOTTE -- Forbes magazine ranks the Carolina Panthers 26th among the world's most valuable professional sports franchises and estimates that it's worth more than $1 billion. That places it 16th among the National Football League's 32 teams but makes it most valuable of the four in its division, the NFC South. The Charlotte City Council recently agreed to provide $87.5 million for upgrades to the nearly 20-year-old Bank of America Stadium, which the team owns.
