The last eight months have seen some of the highlights and low points of Tim Newman's six years as head of the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority.

The Central intercollegiate Athletic Association basketball tournament, which the CRVA says has had a $200 million economic impact since coming to Charlotte in 2006, generates a record $44 million.

It's revealed that Newman routed $100,000 in bonuses from the CIAA to a CRVA staff member through the authority payroll.

Amid outcry over the bonuses, renewing Newman's contract hinges upon a consultant's report on CRVA pay policies, scheduled to be completed in mid-June.

Thompson replaces Noski as BofA CFO carousel continues

In April, Charlotte-based Bank of America Corp. named Bruce Thompson chief financial officer, its sixth in seven years. Thompson, the bank's chief risk officer, follows Chuck Noski (2010-11), Joe Price (2006-10), Al de Molina (2005-06), Marc Oken (2004-05) and Jim Hance (1988-2004). Noski had planned to move to Charlotte when he accepted the job, but an ill family member kept him in California.

The report that Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department released on the death of Delvonte Tisdale, whose body fell from a wheel well of a Boston-bound Boeing 727 as it prepared to land. The report blames inadequate police presence at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport, but most of it--including an "opinion" about how the 16-year-old got on the plane--was redacted.
