Charles Gumbiner, a former president of the Los Angeles Chapter, died Aug. 4. He was 81.

Gumbiner founded the firm that is now Santa Monica-based Gumbiner Savett Inc., one of the largest locally owned accounting firms in California.

He was active in CalCPA leadership at the chapter and state level, serving on CalCPA's board of directors (1998-2001) and on CalCPA Council (2001-04). Gumbiner also served as president of the Los Angeles Chapter (1987-88).

Gumbiner was a member of CalCPA's AP & AS and Careers in Accounting committees for many years, as well as the Litigation Consulting Services section (now the Litigation Services section). He was also a longtime member of the Los Angeles Chapter's Real Estate committee.

Gumbiner attended Los Angeles High School and received a bachelor's degree in accounting from UCLA, and later, an MBA from the UCLA Graduate School of Management. He also served in the U.S. Air Force...
