Los Angeles Chapter hosts Annual Tax Administrators' Night; makes plans for year.

Tax Administrators' Night/ Annual Meeting

The highlight of the Los Angeles Chapter's year was the Annual Meeting and Tax Administrators' Night, held at the Beverly Hills Hotel on June 12. John Chiang, Chair of the California State Board of Equalization, Gerald Goldberg, Executive Officer of the California Franchise Tax Board, and Tom Wilson, IRS LMSB Director for Communications, Technology and Media, spoke on recent developments and key issues in their areas.

The officers and directors for 2003-2004 were elected with William J. Spina of Hughes Electronics Corporation elected to succeed outgoing President Gary P. Courtland of The Walt Disney Company. A reception and dinner followed. For the seveth year, the Chapter awarded two scholarships. The recipients of $2,500 scholarships were Ofelia Lopez of Golden Gate University and James M. Stekelberg of the University of Southern California.

Annual Planning Meeting

In July the officers and Board of Directors met at the Jonathan Beach Club in Santa Monica to plan the calendar for 2003-2004. Following are the dates and topics of the full day seminars planned by the Chapter for the current year:

October 17, 2003 Sarbanes-Oxley & Controversy presented by Miller & Chevalier LAX Radisson Hotel

December 11, 2003 FAS 109 presented by Deloitte & Touche Glendale Hilton Hotel
