B. TYPES OF ADMINISTRATION

This manual covers the steps involved in most of the methods by which property passes from one person to another at death.

1. Probate. The formal structured procedure outlined in Washington's Probate Code is set forth first and in the greatest detail (Chapters 2 through 17) because it is under this procedure that most estates are settled. The Probate Code appears in Title 11 of the Revised Code of Washington (http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/) and sets forth the steps required in the probate process. Court supervision is limited, although more formal court involvement can be requested by any interested party.
