§9.1 INTRODUCTION
This chapter discusses the common elements of law governing the transportation of hazardous substances, including hazardous materials and hazardous wastes. Because Washington has adopted all federal law and regulations pertaining to the transportation of hazardous substances, this chapter will focus on the pertinent areas of federal law and will only highlight specific Washington regulations. In addition, a detailed discussion of hazardous wastes is not included here because it appears in chapter 4 (Dangerous Waste) of this deskbook. Furthermore, this chapter does not discuss the transportation of nuclear materials due to their restricted nature.
