§58.5 PURPOSE AND PROCEDURE
CR 58 distinguishes between the signing of a judgment by a judge and entry of the judgment by delivery to the clerk for filing. In Malott v. Randall, 83 Wn.2d 259, 261-62, 517P.2d605 (1974), the court held that the judgment should be "lodged in the office of the clerk before it can be deemed entered" and that delivery to a deputy clerk, who put the paper in his desk in the courtroom, did not constitute "filing."
