CHAPTER 5
SAMPLE STATUS EXAMINATION LETTER

XYZ Mining Company
Denver, Colorado
Gentlemen:

Pursuant to your request I have examined the Federal Records to determine the status of the lands described below. This is a report of my conclusions concerning matters of historical and current status. Enclosed herewith are copies of documents which were obtained as a part of the examination.

DESCRIPTION

All of T. ______ N., R. _____ W. of the 6th P.M., X and Y counties, Colorado.

PROCEDURE

This examination was limited to the "new records". Copies of all relevant documents were obtained.

The examination was made on Wednesday, April 28, 1971. The latest serial pages were checked in order to find any late filings which have not yet been posted. The serial pages were current to 4:00 p.m., April 27, 1971.

INFORMATIONGENERAL

1. Copies of the Master Title Plat (MTP) and Historical Index (HI) are attached hereto.

2. The subject lands are in X and Y counties, Colorado. The county line is shown on the MTP. If the location of the county line is important for your purposes, other information should be obtained. You should not rely on the MTP for location of county lines.

3. The township is surveyed. The survey was approved on February 4, 1882. The township was withdrawn for resurvey on March 3, 1883. No resurvey was performed and the withdrawal was restored on July 31, 1891. The original survey is still in effect. Copies of the plat and of the withdrawal and restoration orders are attached hereto.

4. The Index to Miscellaneous Documents was checked. No documents affecting the subject township were found.

5. The subject lands are within the White River and Arapaho national forests.

6. References in mineral patents indicate that the subject lands were in the Consolidated Ten Mile Mining District. This was probably not a formally organized district.

STATUSCURRENT

The following matters affect the current status of the described lands:

1. The records indicate that Section 16 is state land. See "REMARKS", infra, for a discussion of the status of Section 36.

2. Portions of Sections 14 and 23 are held by patented lode and millsite mining claims. Copies of the

mineral survey plats (MS 1182, MS 1183, and MS 19019 A, B) and of the patents (ME Pat. 5891, ME Pat. 6116, and ME Pat. 490564) are attached hereto.

3. There is a surveyed but unpatented lode mining claim in Section 23. A copy of...
