PREFACE TO THIRD EDITION

Local superior court rules now take up more than 1,000 pages. Thankfully, no one of the three volumes of the third edition of the Washington Civil Procedure Deskbook is that large. In keeping with that sentiment, I will keep this Preface short as well.

This edition follows the familiar format of prior editions. It is current as of March 2014. Each author was asked to contrast the Washington civil rule with the corresponding federal rule, to address the purpose of the rule, to cite and discuss significant authorities interpreting the rule, to consider strategic and practical...
